Rest is resistance
In a world that equates worth with productivity, choosing to rest is a radical act. It pushes back against the constant demand to do more, to prove more, to be more. Rest is not laziness—it is reclamation. It is the refusal to be consumed. It is an insistence on dignity, healing, and wholeness. For women of color, who have historically been denied rest—expected to labor, nurture, and endure without pause—rest is even more powerful. It is not just a break; it is survival. It is a way of saying: I exist beyond what I produce. I am enough as I am.

I Chose Joy
Acrylic on cradled panel

These small paintings began during a season that felt loud and exacting. Instead of trying to make something polished or perfect, I chose smallness, play, and whimsy. Each piece is an experiment in letting go. They’re quick, intuitive, and joyful reminders that delight doesn’t require calm circumstances. It can show up in bright color, odd pairings, and moments that don’t take themselves too seriously.
They’re left unnamed on purpose. You get to decide what they’re called.
*All works are available for purchase through email. Works will be ready to go to their new homes when the show at Beanetics concludes in April.

Goldie & The tanks
GOLDIE AND THE TANKS first came to the music scene in 1995 with their cover album “Fish Styx.” At the time, they went by “The Golden Girls.” Betty White was thrilled until they refused to let her adopt them. After Ms. White threatened a lawsuit, the band quickly changed its name to Goldie and the Tanks and released “Don’t Tank Me In”—a reworking of the Andrews Sisters classic (Don’t Fence Me In)—and a not-so-subtle jab at Ms. White. Some believe Taylor Swift’s penchant for revenge songs was inspired by Goldie and the Tanks. After the beloved Ms. White’s passing, it was revealed that Ms. White, a recognized champion of animals, had been punking the fish the whole time.

being benny
This Benny needs no Jets to accompany him. He has no jets that need cooling. He's just fine as he is. Meet Benny Bandito, founder of the International Benny Club, "The Jet-less Setters." (Ask him about the time a bunch of Irish setters tried to join the club if you want to get him all riled up. But remember, he doesn't get riled, as he has no jets to cool.)
